Overview
Join the Queensland Fire Department as a Recruit Firefighter (FFR) in the next Expression of Interest campaign.
The QFD provides multi-hazard emergency response services to Queensland communities, working with Queensland Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire Service Queensland, and volunteer members.
Purpose of the Role
Protect and serve the community by responding to fires and other emergencies in a professional and timely manner to minimise loss to life, property and the environment.
Improve the safety and emergency preparedness of the community through fire prevention and community education activities.

Mandatory Requirements
Currently holds a valid Blue Card with attached evidence.
Manual Medium Rigid (MR) driver's licence recognised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Current Apply First Aid Certificate.
Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate.
Compliance with QFD medical and fitness standards.
Criminal History Check.
Clinical Psychometric Assessment.
Your Key Accountabilities
Operations Management
Respond to fire, road crash rescue / entrapments, technical rescues, hazardous material and other emergency incidents as part of a fire crew.
Operate emergency response vehicles and equipment safely, including driving a fire appliance under varying circumstances and conditions.
Provide first aid and resuscitation where required.
Maintain QFD equipment, resources and facilities to ensure operational readiness.
Undertake operational duties within the five roles of the Operations' Management function (research and information, risk reduction, readiness, response, and recovery).
Community Safety Operations
Promote community awareness in fire prevention through community education programs.
Assist with inspection of property, buildings and emergency response equipment, and with development of evacuation plans and procedures.
Communicate effectively with other emergency service personnel and community members.
Professional Development
Develop and maintain competencies required by QFD and pursue opportunities for self-development through relevant training programs.
Participate in tactical, operational and technical functions, acquiring and maintaining suitable skills.
Operations Business Management
Undertake administrative duties and maintain station records.
Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies and principles.
Contribute to a safe, healthy and productive work environment through a positive team approach.
Perform duties with the highest level of personal integrity and professionalism as required in the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service.
