Overview

To deliver superior customer service and support to the Third-Party Banking channel including Mortgage Advisers, Business Development Managers, customers and Credit Managers. The Mortgage Specialist is primarily responsible for managing a portfolio of Mortgage Advisers, assessing and making decisions on lending. They will use pricing and credit dispensations to make decisions to win business and follow the deal through to issuing lending documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Adherence to credit policy and underwriting standards, referring deals outside authority level to SMS & / or Credit
  • Developing & maintaining a high level of knowledge & understanding regarding lending products including policy, pricing, utilising discretions and dispensations
  • Manage allocated tasks as requested to ensure SLAs are achieved and report any exceptions
  • Smooth transition of customers to other business units where appropriate
  • Contributing towards continuous improvements by identifying and implementing improvements in processes

What you will bring

  • Experience in banking and lending environment - specifically home loan lending
  • Certified Lender (CAL 1 preferrable or potential to attain CAL1 quickly)
  • Strong communication skills required to discuss lending proposal with mortgage advisor and obtain agreement of how the scenario fits and applies to our lending policies / processes
  • Proactively develop and maintain a high level of knowledge & understanding with regard to : Complex home loan and residential lending including construction lending
  • Strong negotiation skills for lending and pricing
  • Proficient with CRM, Core Systems and a sound understanding of lending policies
  • Data entry quality and speed to a very high standard
  • Numeracy & literacy skills to a very high standard
  • Proven knowledge of financial products & services
  • 3 – 5 years Lending Experience
