About the role | Mo te mahi
We are looking for a Head of Health, Safety, Security and Wellbeing (HSSW) to lead the ongoing delivery of our HSSW Strategy and strengthen a culture where our people, contractors, and partners are safe, supported, and able to thrive.
In this role, you will shape and embed practical, scalable HSSW systems that reduce risk, meet legislative obligations, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation. You'll collaborate closely with the Board, Executive Leadership, People Leaders, our people, and other PCBUs we work with to ensure an effective and high performing health and safety management system.
You will also lead our HSSW team, enhance system maturity and reporting, and drive a proactive, collaborative and people-centred approach to health, safety, security and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities include :
Leading the development and delivery of the HSSW Strategy and annual work programme.
Embedding practical, user-friendly HSSW systems, policies and controls across the organisation.
Overseeing incident investigations, assurance reporting, risk management and continuous improvement.
Providing high-quality advice and insights to governance, including Board and ELT reporting.
Building capability and confidence across leaders and teams through coaching, training and partnership.

To be successful in this role you will bring :
Extensive experience leading HSSW functions in complex organisations, ideally across different office site locations.
In-depth knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation and relevant assurance frameworks (HSWA, SafePlus, PSR).
Demonstrated success developing and embedding effective health and safety management systems.
Strong experience in hazard and risk management, incident investigation, and driving continuous improvement.
The ability to influence, coach and engage leaders and staff at all levels, including governance audiences.
Excellent communication skills, including experience preparing high-quality reporting and presenting insights.
A collaborative, practical leadership style that champions wellbeing and fosters a strong safety culture.
Relevant H&S qualifications and / or professional certifications.
