Higgins has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Drainage Operator to join our team working on the Waikato District Council northern road maintenance and renewals contract.

This contract covers North Waikato from Huntly to Pokeno and includes the maintenance of approximately 1,200 km of sealed and unsealed roads, spanning rural and coastal areas.

Based out of our Te Kauwhata depot, you'll be responsible for operating machinery (excavators, trenchers, compactors) and assisting with the installation of drainage systems across the network.

What You'll Bring To The Role

WTR Endorsements and Class 2 License (preferrable)

Experience in drainage or civil construction operations

Willing to be hands on and support your team with a variety of tasks

Strong focus on health and safety not only for yourself, your colleagues but also the public

Self-motivated with a positive attitude and the ability to think for yourself

A high level of physical fitness due to the physical nature of the roles

Flexible, committed and reliable – will turn up rain or shine
