I provide Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills workshops. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology, and a Master's Degree in Health Psychology.
My workshops will give you helpful tools for managing a range of psychological issues from low mood to anxiety.
CBT and ACT can help with the treatment of Depression and Anxiety.
In line with ethical best practice, it is important for me to clarify that I am not a Registered Psychologist. The workshops I offer are education and skill-based; they are not intended as therapeutic sessions.
It is also important for me to clarify that any information you share with me will remain confidential unless I am concerned for your own safety or the safety of someone else. I will continue to attend workshops / training seminars as I see necessary to keep my knowledge up to date with current best practice guidelines for CBT and ACT education.

Qualifications and registrations
I hold a Bachelor of Science, a Post Graduate Diploma, and a Master's Degree in Psychology. My studies in the area of psychology, along with clinical training I received as part of my postgraduate diploma, allowed for education about how CBT and ACT function to treat a range of conditions.
I have experience in teaching 1st year medical students at Auckland University as a Senior Tutor; this teaching covered the practical use of CBT and ACT. I am not currently registered as a Psychologist; therefore, my workshops are not intended as therapeutic interventions. They are intended to impart a specific set of practical, skill-based knowledge on CBT and ACT.
I attended a workshop with Dr. David Tolin in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for anxiety-related disorders (July, 2024).
I have attended two Acceptance and Commitment Therapy workshops with Dr. Russ Harris; one was a two-day training workshop on the use of ACT techniques for psychological disorders (2015) and the other was a follow-up workshop in the use of ACT techniques in anxiety disorders (2016).

ACT teaches a client commitment to living a life based on values and activities that uphold their values; it teaches a client to accept what is out of their control and concentrate on what is within their control.
The 6 Core Processes of ACT are as follows :
1. Acceptance
2. Cognitive Defusion - teaching clients to create space between themselves and their emotions and thoughts so that they have less of a hold over them.
3. Contacting the present moment (mindfulness).
4. Self as Context - teaching clients that experiences, thoughts, and feelings are content that is ever-changing. That their core self remains unchanged no matter how they might think, feel, or see themselves in any given moment.
5. Values - the deeper things in life that are important.
6. Committed Action - taking action as guided by values.
