About the role

Join our team as a Development Engineer, where you'll play a key role in delivering assets to the Council through land development projects.

You'll be responsible for evaluating engineering aspects of Resource Consent applications, setting engineering-specific conditions of consent, approving engineering plans for civil infrastructure, and overseeing the construction phase to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Additionally, you'll issue S224 approvals, contributing to the successful completion of projects.

Key responsibilities

Imposing engineering conditions on resource consents

Approving engineering design reports and plans

Managing the construction phase of new developments and ensuring that high quality assets are delivered to Council

Monitoring the defect\'s liability period

Approving the release of uncompleted works and maintenance bonds

Assisting with maintaining and updating Engineering Standards and Code of Practice.

Stakeholder management

About you

This role would suit someone down to earth, who likes to problem solve and isn\'t afraid of working in a challenging but rewarding industry.

You bring a wealth of experience in engineering particularly transportation design and reporting, along with a solid understanding of design and construction standards across all land development engineering disciplines.

Your ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders—including consultants, developers, customers, and contractors—sets you apart.

You will also have :

Hands-on experience with land development engineering design and construction.

Experience with reviewing resource consent applications and associated engineering documents.

Knowledge of 3 waters reticulation systems, pavements, road safety and land management.

A full clean driver\'s licence.

Sound understanding of the RMA and knowledge of related legislation is desirable

Site experience would be an advantage.

Experience working in an office environment, utilising your computer skills to streamline processes.

A willingness to learn and adapt, maintain confidentiality, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
