Job description

Registered Nurse - Christchurch - Fixed term until 2026

Whanau Awhina Plunket is the largest service in Aotearoa supporting the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whanau, we provide clinical support through our traditional well child checks, 24 / 7 telehealthcare via PlunketLine as well as community support such as playgroups where whanau can gather and form lasting positive relationships within their community.

With own kaimahi set to start their own parenting journey, we have two fixed term positions available :

0.6FTE - November 2026 - mostly around South West Christchurch.

0.8FTE - April 2026 - mostly around Central Christchurch.

You will meet whanau in their homes and hold clinics where you will conduct our head to toe assessment, providing clinical advice and where required referrals to ensure pepi have the best start to life.

Working in the community means meeting people from all walks of life will ensure you have a great deal of variety in your day, and provides the opportunity to utilise your clinical judgement and assessment skills to work in partnership with whanau to create a life where pepi and tamariki thrive.

We\'ve committed to a pro-equity journey, we are guided by the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and actively look to include Maori worldviews in how we approach our mahi.

As a nurse, you will look at each whanau in a holistic manner and consider how to support overall aspirations for Hauora.

The full time annual salary for this role is between $66,222 ($33.51 per hour) - $94,842 ($48 per hour) based on experience.

Registered Nurses who thrive at Plunket enjoy getting to know people and understanding their individual stories and aspirations.

You will be able to navigate what can be difficult and stressful times, and leave people feeling empowered, reassured and well cared for.

As a case manager, you\'ll be able to plan, prioritise and be proactive in your communication and documentation to ensure the whanau have a good understanding of their journey with us and that you are leveraging the support from our Health Workers, community support, PlunketLine or external services when required.

While the opportunity to make a difference is alluring, we routinely screen about sensitive issues such as family violence, substance use and maternal mental health, therefore the ability to maintain a non judgemental and supportive approach is key.

Simultaneously, it is vital you have the resilience and fortitude to manage the more difficult parts that our kaimahi can see.

If you're seeking to work for an organisation that values improving society and want the opportunity to make a meaningful and tangible change, join us at WhanauAwhina Plunket.

In line with our values, we believe in caring for our people, to support your wellbeing and ongoing professional growth.
