We're seeking a dynamic individual who embodies these qualities to join our team.About the team | Ko te ropu neiAs part of Christchurch City Council's Regulatory Compliance Unit, the Compliance and Investigations team consists of 11 passionate and committed Compliance Officers who investigate activities to ensure compliance with a variety of local policies and Government legislation.

This includes the Building Act

  • , Resource Management Act
  • , Local Government Act
  • , Freedom Camping Act
  • , Litter Act
  • and Christchurch City Council District Plan and Bylaws.

Our officers are often out in the field and sometimes deal with challenging people and situations.

They need a natural leader to offer continuous support and mentorship as well as someone who is committed to nurturing their team's professional growth.About the role | Ko te mahi neiAs the Team Leader Compliance & Investigations you are responsible for the professional leadership and effective operations of the team.

Working within the legislative framework and guidelines to uphold Council's reputation, ensure appropriate outcomes for Christchurch residents and hold people to account where necessary.

We want someone who does what they say they are going to do, is an effective communicator, and makes time for their team.

This role is varied, and will see you wearing many hats to fulfil the Unit priorities, which include : Providing direction, empowerment, and motivation to the teamRole modelling shared values and behavioursEnsuring policies and practices are being followedDeveloping and maintaining a clear purpose for the teamSetting targets, plans, and performance measuresWhere necessary dealing with contentious, sensitive or complex customersOur ideal Team Leader will provide excellent leadership and mentoring to support the continuous development of the team.

We want an encouraging and supportive people leader who communicates openly whilst having the ability to have tough conversations.

To be successful you will also have : Tertiary qualification at Degree level in Management, Building Industry, Resource Management, Investigation or Compliance ORExtensive experience in leading a team of professionals in a regulatory role7 years' + experience in an investigation, enforcement, compliance environment3 years + leading a team in interpreting and applying statutes and regulations in a compliance or investigation frameworkTo view a copy of the position description, click the link at the foot of the page.What's in it for you?

  • hours per weekPosition - Full-time, permanentLocation - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford StreetSalary - The salary band for this position goes from $115,466 to $128,295 per annum based on a 40 hour week.
  • Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.Closing Date - 19 October
