About the role We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Transport Nurse (RegisteredNurse) to join our Transalpine service. This role is a critical part of ensuring safe, timely, and effective transfer of patients between Te Nikau Hospital, Canterbury / Waitaha hospitals, and other regional healthcare facilities.
You will utilise your advanced nursing knowledge and clinical judgement to assess patient needs, provide safe care during transfer, and deliver professional support to patients and their whānau throughout the process. Working in close collaboration with St John, medical teams, coordinators, and ward staff, this role requires a high level of autonomy, professionalism, and clinical expertise.
When not undertaking patient transfers, you will also contribute to the wider system by supporting clinical areas within your scope of practice.
Key responsibilities
About you
You will be a confident and adaptable Registered Nurse with a strong background in acute or emergency care, able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Calm under pressure, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to respond effectively in complex and rapidly changing situations.
