Overview
About the Role : We are seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeping Manager to join our team at Sudima Christchurch City, an 86-room 5-star hotel in Christchurch Central City. You will oversee housekeeping operations to maintain high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction, lead a team of housekeeping staff, develop cleaning schedules and procedures, and collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and guest experiences. This role offers a path for advancement in Housekeeping Management and requires leading a dedicated team.
Position details : This is a full-time position, minimum 40 hours per week. Salary is $70,000–$75,000, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- A hands-on approach to managing and supervising the daily operations of the housekeeping department
- Financial management, including developing and managing the yearly department budget
- Analyse monthly wage costs, productivity and operating costs while maintaining efficiencies
- Develop and implement training and development plans for your team including succession planning
- Conduct regular performance discussions, check-ins, and monthly staff meetings to motivate and inspire team members
- Train, motivate, and lead a team of housekeeping staff
- Organise team-building activities
- Ensure all guest rooms and public areas are clean, well-maintained, and hygienic
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules, standard operating procedures, and quality standards
- Monitor inventory levels and order cleaning supplies as needed
- Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns related to housekeeping
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and cleanliness regulations
- Active involvement in on-site auditing alongside the Hotel Manager
- Daily, weekly, and monthly task schedules to be monitored and adhered to
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction
- Work with the maintenance department to develop and maintain a preventative maintenance plan
- Build strong relationships within the hotel and with external suppliers
- Follow workplace health and safety policies, including safe work practices and correct manual handling procedures
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
Requirements
NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or at least 3 years of relevant experience3 years of experience in a similar management role in a 4.5–5 star environmentProven leadership and team management skillsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong knowledge of housekeeping operations and proceduresEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesFlexible availability, including weekends and public holidaysKnowledge of health and safety regulationsProficiency in using, storing and managing cleaning chemicals and equipmentExperience with payroll, purchasing and HMS software (Shiji preferred)Proficiency with Microsoft Office; intermediate Outlook and Excel requiredCommitment to People
