Higgins Hawke's Bay is looking for an experienced and motivated Operator to join our Surfacing & Sealing Team. With a strong pipeline of work across the Hawke's Bay region, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-performing crew delivering road maintenance, chip sealing, asphalt surfacing, and infrastructure projects that keep our communities connected. This is a hands-on role that combines plant operation with surfacing and sealing activities. You'll work alongside experienced crews to safely deliver quality outcomes while contributing to a positive team environment. What you'll be doing Operating rollers, loaders, tractors, and other surfacing and sealing plant and equipment Supporting chip sealing, asphalt paving, and road maintenance operations Assisting with site set-up, traffic management, and daily operational activities Loading, unloading, and transporting materials on site Conducting pre-start checks and maintaining plant and equipment to a high standard Monitoring work quality and ensuring compliance with project specifications Working closely with Forepersons and Project Teams to deliver work programmes efficiently Following all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements Assisting with general labouring duties as required across surfacing operations Contributing to a positive team culture and safe working environment What you'll bring Proven experience operating civil construction or surfacing plant and equipment Class 2 Licence as a minimum, with WTR endorsements preferred Previous experience in chip sealing, asphalt paving, road maintenance, or civil construction environments Strong commitment to health and safety Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude Reliable, hardworking, and willing to support the wider crew when required Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual work Class 4 Licence is advantageous Experience operating rollers, loaders, spreaders, or surfacing equipment is desirable but not essential Why Join the Green Team?
