Secondary (Years 7-15) / wharekura, Middle leadership English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts 1MU Titiro Whakamua is seeking an experienced, proactive and highly skilled Assistant Head Teacher, to work collaboratively with the Head Teacher at the Titiro Whakamua Teen Parent Unit in Upper Hutt. Titiro Whakamua serves the wider Hutt Valley region and is funded for 35 ākonga and the Kindergarten serves the tamariki of the Titiro Whakamua ākonga and the surrounding community. This is a rewarding leadership role that involves assisting the Head Teacher and focuses on the daily operational planning, implementation, and coordination of services for ākonga. Teaching is delivered in either one-on-one or in small class settings. This enables strong relationships and personalised learning to happen. In this role, you will be adaptable, able to design and deliver learning programmes that respond to the needs and requirements of each ākonga. You will contribute to a culture of shared learning, reflection, and continuous improvement. Our students range from ages 14 to 22. Ideally, you will teach a number of subject areas. Please state your specialist subjects. We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and motivated kaiako to join our team. This is a role where you will work within a supportive, values-led team. The successful applicant will: Have recent New Zealand high school experience Have an understanding of NCEA Be able to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds Have an understanding of trauma informed practice. The successful applicant must have significant knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) and a proven ability to model and support effective, inclusive, and equitable educational practices in mainstream settings.
