About the RoleThis is a permanent, part time opportunity to join our Community Speech Language Therapist team at 0.6FTE (24 hours per week), there may be the option to increase to 0.9FTE (36 hours per week) in the near future. Please indicate your preferred FTE in your cover letter.Our Community Speech Language Therapists are part of interdisciplinary, community-based teams, while also benefiting from strong professional leadership and collegial support within the wider Speech Language Therapy service.In this role, you will deliver skilled assessment, management, and rehabilitation for a wide range of swallowing and communication disorders in clients aged 16 and over. The service offers a variety of care approaches, including community and home visits, clinic-based appointments, and group programmes. You will also be involved in a Videofluoroscopy (VFSS) service based at Burwood Hospital, with scope to incorporate telehealth into your practice. Deliver comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and therapy in line with professional standards, policies, and procedures Provide intervention for people with a diverse range of communication and swallowing disorders, including complex and degenerative conditions Educate and support patients, whānau, caregivers, and members of the interdisciplinary team Collaborate and coordinate care with a wide range of community services and external agencies Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and patient records Contribute to continuous quality improvement within the community teams and wider Speech Language Therapy service This role offers the opportunity to work with a varied caseload and make a meaningful impact in community-based rehabilitation.About YouYou will be an experienced and adaptable clinician who is confident working both autonomously and as part of a team. You'll bring strong organisational and interpersonal skills, along with a commitment to delivering person-centred care. Your skills and experience will include: Proven ability to complete thorough assessments and tailor interventions using strong clinical reasoning and a goal-focused approach Confidence using objective assessment tools VFSS competency level 3 (essential); FEES competency level 3 is desirable Experience in acute and/or rehabilitation settings is advantageous Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with community providers Experience working with patients with significant comorbidities is an advantage Registration with the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists' Association (NZSTA) & a Current APC is essential A full driver's licence is essential Working at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu OraHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuringexcellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
