Hours of Work Saturday: 2:00pm - 6:30pm and Sunday: 2:00pm - 6:30pm Minimum 9 hours per weekend, with the potential for additional hours. We are seeking a friendly and reliable Weekend Afternoon Catering Assistant to join our catering team and help provide an enjoyable dining experience for our residents. Shalom Rest Home is a well‑established aged care facility in Northland, providing a welcoming, supportive, and caring environment for our residents. We take pride in creating a warm, home‑like atmosphere where residents feel valued and connected to their community. Key Responsibilities Assist with basic food preparation and meal presentation. Prepare, serve, and deliver meals to residents. Collect and clear dishes following meal services. Wash dishes and maintain high cleaning standards throughout the kitchen. Remove rubbish and keep work areas clean, tidy, and hazard‑free. Replenish kitchen and dining room supplies as required. Support the smooth operation of the kitchen and dining service. Follow food safety, infection control, and health and safety procedures. Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to residents, visitors, and colleagues. Assist in creating a positive dining experience that enhances residents’ wellbeing and quality of life. About You To be successful in this role, you will: Be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. Have excellent time management skills and attention to detail. Take pride in maintaining high hygiene and food safety standards. Enjoy working as part of a team and supporting others. Have a positive, can‑do attitude. Enjoy interacting with older people and contributing to their comfort and wellbeing. Previous catering, food service, or aged care experience is advantageous but not essential.
