About the Role Social Work Services at Christchurch Hospital are invitingapplications for a casual Allied Health Assistant to join our team working across theChristchurch campus. We provide 24-hour social work service 7 days a week. This involves being able to work across all areas of theChristchurch Health Campus. Our socialwork team provides services as part of a multi-disciplinary team taking aholistic approach to patient care. As an Allied Health Assistant, you will assist Allied HealthSocial Work professionals and other staff in the provision of care forinpatient, outpatient and community-based patients/clients of Health New Zealand Waitaha, Canterbury. You will provide support to Social Workers to implementpatient centred plans of clinical care working together with patients,families, caregivers and communities to deliver the highest quality of care. In this role you will: Support Social Workers in delivering person-centred care to patients and their whānau Assist with patient-related administration, including data entry, documentation, and coordination of referrals Engage with patients, whānauand carers in a respectful, culturally safe, and supportive manner Monitor and report on patient progress under the guidance of Social Work professionals Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies Contribute to the smooth running of the service, including supporting workload across areas as needed Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with Health New Zealand standards About You Due to the casual nature of this role, we are ideally seeking a candidate with prior experience working in a healthcareor allied health setting and is able to hit the ground running. You will be confident engaging with patients and whānau, highly organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while supporting clinical teams. You will have: Proven experience in a healthcare, disability, or allied health support role Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and clinical systems/data entry Experience engaging effectively with patients, whānau, and diverse communities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly Strong organisation and time management, with the ability to juggle competing priorities Ability to work both independently and under direction of Allied Health professionals A proactive approach with initiative and problem-solving ability Understanding of culturally safe practice and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles A full, current NZ driver's licence Current legal entitlement to work in New Zealand Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuringexcellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
