We offer a stimulating teaching, research and professional working environment in one of our three campuses : our main campus in Whakatane, Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Te Tai Tokerau (Northland).

This degree programme aims to graduate future teachers who will teach children aged 5-13 years (Primary) or 0-8 years (Early Years) and as a Lecturer you will be responsible for the delivery of Maori Medium and Mainstream Medium education where all or some of the national curriculum strands are taught in Te Reo Maori or English medium education taught solely in English.As a Lecturer, your primary responsibility will be to plan and deliver quality lectures and assessments, to support learning through face to face and online mediums, monitor the papers and mentor students, and to undertake research.Delivery of the programme will take place during the week Monday – Thursday.

There are also scheduled noho throughout the programme.

While the delivery sites include Whakatane, Tamaki, and Te Tai Tokerau, as a Lecturer you will be part of the wider Education team of staff based at Whakatane campus.Applicants will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching using a variety of skills and ranges of methodologies and techniques including the use of online teaching tools.

You will also have : A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education with a commitment to continue further post graduate study.Primary / Intermediate school teaching experience, with experience also monitoring, assessing, and delivering curriculum, and / or Early Years papers and courses at degree level.A teaching qualification and a minimum of five years Early Years or Primary teaching experience (Kura Kaupapa, or mainstream).

Te Reo Maori proficiency to at least level 6, and the ability to deliver in Maori medium.

Fluency in Te Reo Maori is preferred and / orPacific Communities languages proficiency and knowledge and practice of Pacific Communities cultural competency.A comprehensive understanding of Tikanga Maori which you can apply in educational settings.Knowledge of Te Whariki, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, and the New Zealand curriculum.To deliver this programme and to support student teachers in early years and primary school settings for practicum, you must be a registered teacher with the New Zealand Teaching Council and hold a current category 1 practicing certificate.We offer a supportive working environment and welcome candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
