Job description

My client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team in Wellington. This is your chance to make a tangible difference by maintaining the integrity of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and leading key payroll initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Holidays Act Remediation : Recalculate historical leave entitlements for current and former employees, ensure compliance with the Holidays Act 2003, prepare documentation for approval, create upload files for payments, and maintain detailed records for audits.
  • System Support : Ensure the HRIS and integrated systems run effectively, perform quality assurance to maintain data integrity, support system upgrades, and provide guidance and training to the payroll team and system users during changes.
  • Expert Advice : Act as a key point of escalation for complex payroll queries, provide expert technical advice to the payroll team and wider business, and develop and maintain payroll reports to support decision-making.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in payroll operations or remediation projects, with an understanding of the Holidays Act and other relevant employment legislation.
  • Experience in a payroll / HRIS role within a large, complex organization.
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining payroll processes and resolving complex payroll problems.
  • Strong relationship management and problem-solving skills, with a methodical and detail-oriented approach.
