Internal Affairs Te Tari Taiwhenua is a central public service agency that plays a key role in supporting New Zealands government communities and people. We deliver a wide range of essential services that touch everyday life including passports citizenship and birth death and marriage registrations and helping to preserve New Zealands heritage through the National Library and Archives New Zealand.
We have an important regulatory role overseeing areas such as anti-money laundering gambling charities censorship and digital safety while contributing to national policy and service delivery across government.
The role Te tūnga
We are looking for an experienced Executive Assistant / Executive Officer to provide day to day logistical and executive level support to our Secretary bringing expert diary management sound judgement and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
Working closely with the Director Office of the Secretary youll manage complex diaries coordinate meetings and papers and support the smooth flow of information and activity across the office. Youll also play a key role in connecting stakeholders and ensuring priorities are delivered in a dynamic and often changeable environment.

What you bring Nōu te rourou
- Proven success providing Executive Assistant support to Senior Leaders preferably within the public sector.
- Experience with proactive diary management for Senior Managers and effective decision making
- Experience in interacting with Ministers Offices senior officials and other agencies
- Proven experience of working in an environment that requires a high level of discretion sensitivity and interpersonal interaction
- Experience in working in a flexible environment where you are required to respond to changing needs and priorities
- Proficiency in working with financial systems and collating financial information
- Experience working with information management systems with a good understanding of information management legislation standards and practices in the NewZealandpublic sector
- Confidence with Microsoft Office and an understanding or interest in using AI as a productivity tool
- Experience mentoring or leading others within business support teams contributing to capabilityupliftand individual growth

The appointing range for this role $90k - $109K plus kiwisaver (with the potential to appoint higher depending on level of experience). Please note this is full-time (40 hour) in-office role Monday to Friday.
