About the role :

As an HR Business Partner, you will play a key role in delivering support, guidance and providing strategic advice across the business. You will work closely with the Business and the People Team to understand HR needs. This is a hands‑on business partnering role supporting your own diverse portfolio. This is a great opportunity to take ownership and work closely with senior leaders, helping shape people practices that align with business goals and support our district.

This role is a permanent role working 40 hours a week.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Building strong relationships with leaders by understanding business strategy and partnering to identify, develop and implement strategic people initiatives, projects and services.
  • Providing pragmatic HR advice and support across the employee lifecycle.
  • Coaching and supporting leaders to develop their capability, enhance organisational performance and increase employee engagement.
  • Leading and contributing to People Team projects which make a positive impact on our workplace, culture and the employee experience.

About you :

As a professional HR Business Partner, you will be passionate about building organisational capability while operating at a strategic level. You will have an efficient, pragmatic and an approachable style with the ability to build genuine relationships and rapport with people at all levels and different backgrounds. You will be open and willing to help support the People team and wider business with sharing your knowledge and experience. You will be an excellent communicator and articulate your thoughts clearly. You will have strong coaching skills with the confidence to challenge where appropriate and the ability to hold your own in conversations.

You will also have :

  • 2 or more years as an HR Business Partner
  • Clear, confident communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
  • Strong understanding of NZ employment legislation, ER best practice, and HR operations
  • Experience coaching and developing people managers at all levels, driving continuous improvement, supporting change and workforce planning
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, sound judgment, and confident decision‑making skills
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
