Job Description

This position is responsible for performing animal care duties, which include a variety of routine tasks associated with general laboratory animal care in biomedical research that include and not limited to the following :

Performing daily care of animals, including related duties required for the proper care, feeding and housing of laboratory animals.

Performing daily animal checking and identifying clinical and behavioural abnormality, to report to veterinary staff.

Performing daily checking of the facility or equipment, to identify and report issues to supervisor.

Performing routine cage changing and sanitation.

Performing general laboratory animal housekeeping and cleaning duties.

Stocking supplies.

Records keeping.

Operating equipment including cage and rack washers and autoclaves.

Receiving animal shipment.

You will also be expected to assist the veterinary staff when necessary and undertake other duties as assigned.

New assignments may also be given and are accompanied by detailed instructions, and completed work is checked for accuracy and compliance to established regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Diploma in Biotechnology or equivalent discipline preferred or minimum of GCE 'O', 'N' levels or Nitec.

Good disposition and not averse in handling of laboratory animals.

Ability to multi-task.

Good communication skills.

Attention to detail.

Able to work independently and in team settings.

Basic knowledge of MS Outlook and ability to become familiar with additional computing software.

Can lift up to 15 to 25 kg.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Ability to push equipment or cart weighing of 50 to 100 kg.

Ability to perform rotating weekend duties and after office hours duties independently.

Process a valid Class 3 driving license will be an added advantage.
