Overview

Join to apply for the Economic Development Advisor role at Thames-Coromandel District Council .

This role is based in Thames, with flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with the business sector, communities, council colleagues and other parts of government to make our economy more resilient, inclusive and productive.
  • Work at the intersection of policy, business and community on the Coromandel Peninsula, across a diverse portfolio of initiatives.
  • Typical week may include meetings with developers of newly zoned industrial land, regional workforce development discussions, analyzing coastal hazards and applying an economic development lens to climate adaptation, and starting a business case for central government funding. Facilitate delivery of workshops for small business owners.

About You

  • You care about people and are led by a desire to make the world a better place.
  • You understand systems, relationships and how to influence outcomes in a public sector context.
  • You could be a jack of all trades and master of some, or a technical specialist developing a broader set of skills.
  • You can manage projects and bring people together.
  • You are organised, and can organise others.
  • A tertiary qualification in economics, public policy, commerce, or related field is preferred.
  • Excel is your friend, and you are comfortable writing reports and working on business cases.
  • You might have a few years' experience in consulting, or working in a similar public sector role.
