What I will be doing?

Hilton Lake Taupō’s culinary operations span multiple outlets, including Bistro Lago restaurant, Room Service, Meeting & Events catering, and the Team Member Restaurant.

As Chef de Partie, you will prepare and cook dishes in accordance with standard procedures, recipes, photographs, and instructions. You will support the Sous Chef in training team members, contribute to product development, and help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. You will be responsable for :

  • Preparing and presenting food efficiently, hygienically, and to brand standards.
  • Supporting the Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations and team coordination.
  • Ensuring food quality, portion control, and cost efficiency across all menus.
  • Upholding HACCP and FSMS standards, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Participating in inventory, menu planning, and off‑site events as required.
  • Collaborating with Stewarding to minimise breakages and maintain hygiene.
  • Adapting to changes, solving problems under pressure, and maintaining a positive team culture.

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high‑standard kitchen, ideally within a 5‑star hotel or premium restaurant.
  • At least 2 year in a Demi Chef de Partie or equivalent role.
  • Culinary qualifications and a valid health certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of Western cuisine, with proficiency in relevant cooking techniques.
  • Experience in pastry, bread baking, or chocolate work (for Pastry Kitchen roles).
  • Solid understanding of HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Strong leadership and training skills, with a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Able to work with and consume all products and ingredients.
  • Hourly rate will be based on experience and qualifications.
