Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher.

English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts.

St Joseph’s School is a thriving Catholic state integrated primary school, catering for approximately 220 students from Y0 to 8. We are dedicated to providing high-quality education within a supportive and faith-filled community. We seek a motivated and committed NZ registered teacher to join our collaborative and fun staff for the 2026 school year.

We are seeking a permanent, part-time teacher (0.3 FTTE) to work alongside one of our established new entrant / Y1 teachers. This position involves teaching within a highly supported new entrant / Y1 environment while the other teacher is released for leadership and classroom release time.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate :

  • 1. Passion and experience with junior learners
  • A genuine passion for tamariki and a deep understanding of the developmental needs of our youngest learners (Y0 and 1).
  • The ability to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes a strong sense of Whanaungatanga (belonging and connection).
  • 2. Specific pedagogical skills
  • Prior experience and competency in Structured Literacy, with a preference for knowledge in Better Start Literacy Approach (BSLA).
  • Familiarity with teaching mathematics using concepts and resources from The Learner First.
  • Please note : While experience in these areas is preferred, full training and ongoing support will be provided for the successful applicant.
  • 3. Commitment to community and character
  • A dedication to building and maintaining positive, reciprocal relationships with learners, whānau, colleagues, and the wider school community.
  • A willingness to support, uphold, and be positively involved in the Catholic Special Character of our school. While this is not a 'tagged' position, commitment to our Mercy Gospel Values is essential.
