Job description

Earlier this year, EIT | Te Pūkenga began a journey — E tū EIT, a chance to reshape our future together. To continue supporting our kaupapa, we are now seeking a 0.5 FTE, permanent Lecturer in Visual Art and Design, based in Hawke’s Bay, to contribute to the next stage of that journey. This role reports to the Head of School, IDEAschool and Toihoukura.

The Lecturer in Visual Art and Design will deliver high-quality teaching and academic support across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role involves contributing to programme development, engaging in research or creative practice, and supporting ākonga to succeed and progress. This position plays a key part in advancing academic excellence, learner-centred education, and cultural responsiveness within IDEAschool and Toihoukura.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and academic support in visual art and design.
  • Contribute to programme development and continuous improvement.
  • Engage in research or maintain active creative practice.
  • Support student success and progression through effective teaching and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, industry, and professional bodies to strengthen programme relevance.

Qualifications

  • Academic or professional qualifications in visual art and design.
  • Experience in tertiary teaching or the potential to develop in this area.
  • A record of research or creative practice relevant to the discipline.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting diverse learners.
