Anaesthetic Technicians, Surgical, Anaesthesia & Perioperative at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, Auckland

  • Registered Anaesthetic Technician, Counties Manukau : Permanent Fulltime and Part-time positions available.
  • We have exciting opportunities for experienced and newly registered Anaesthetic Technicians (i.e., registered Anaesthetic Technicians who have attained or are about to attain registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand). Operating across two sites, Middlemore and Manukau Health Park, these locations offer the best of city living as well as scenic beaches, parks, and walking trails nearby.

Counties Manukau provides comprehensive orientation programmes for registered Anaesthetic Technicians, new graduates of the New Zealand Perioperative Practice degree, and overseas-qualified practitioners requiring supervision, i.e., those with provisional registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.

About the Role

With 28 operating theatres across two sites, staff have the opportunity to work with a range of elective and acute perioperative services. As a Registered Anaesthetic Technician, you will provide quality patient care and be an integral part of the team delivering anaesthesia across various specialties, including general surgery (vascular, bariatric), orthopaedics (including major spines), obstetrics, gynaecology, plastics, burns, urology, maxillofacial, ORL / ENT, and remote site anaesthesia in MRI, CT, interventional radiology, and cardiac catheter labs.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our team supports both Middlemore and Manukau Health Park sites, approximately 20 minutes apart, with a staff shuttle available. Middlemore Hospital features 14 operating theatres, two procedure rooms, and remote anaesthesia sites, providing multidisciplinary care regionally and nationally, with 24 / 7 theatre coverage. Manukau Health Park has 10 theatres, 2 procedure rooms, 78 inpatient beds, and is nearing the completion of 4 additional theatres. It offers day surgery and elective and acute surgeries for patients not requiring intensive care or interventional radiology.

About You

As a Registered Anaesthetic Technician, you will :

  • Be registered or provisionally registered as an Anaesthetic Technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand
  • Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Have permanent residency or a valid work visa
  • Have recent experience in elective and acute services
  • Be able to work rostered shifts covering 24 / 7 services across both sites
  • Demonstrate teamwork, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and uphold professional standards and values
  • As a Perioperative Practice degree candidate, you will be nearing graduation in line with our February and August intake schedules.
