The teacher in charge of our special students is expected to be a specialist teacher of disabled students and is required to lead a team of staff working with a group of ORRs funded students, aged

• , which include very high and high needs students.

These young people have a variety of different disabilities.

Preferred attributes

Trained and qualified teacher, primary trained, with current NZ teacher registration

Experience in teaching curriculum levels 1,2, and 3 would be an advantage.

Special Education experience or experience in working with disabled young people

Experience in implementing Individual Education Plans and modifying mainstream programmes to suit.

Good understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and qualifications.

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to lead a team of aides and work cooperatively with other personnel.

The ability to complete other tasks as included in the job description.
