Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to lead our South Auckland workshops across multiple depots. This is a pivotal role where you will oversee operations, drive health and safety excellence, and manage a talented team to ensure our fleet; including diesel, hybrid, and electric buses, remains safe, compliant, and on the road.

What You’ll Do

As our Workshop Manager, you will :

  • Lead Health, Safety & Welfare : Champion workplace safety, ensure compliance, conduct inspections, manage incidents, and drive a culture of proactive hazard reporting and prevention.
  • Manage Workshop Operations : Oversee all vehicle maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and compliance checks (COF / WOF), ensuring records are accurate and up to date in the Vehicle Management System (VMS).
  • Support Electric Vehicle Integration : Ensure workshops are trained, equipped, and compliant for the safe maintenance of electric buses.
  • Lead & Develop Teams : Supervise workshop managers and staff, ensuring training, performance feedback, and efficient workflows across all depots.
  • Budget & Resource Management : Oversee costs, workshop stock levels, and deliver accurate weekly / monthly reports to keep operations cost-effective and on schedule.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years’ workshop experience, including diesel and electric bus maintenance.
  • National Certificate in Motor Industry (Automotive Heavy Engineering) Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance, compliance, and safety standards.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Flexible, resilient, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
