Overview

DSO National Laboratories (DSO) is Singapore's largest defence research and development (R&D) organisation, with the mission to develop technological solutions to sharpen Singapore's national security. Role

Mechanical R&D Engineer (Underwater Sensors)

Responsibilities

  • Work in a multidisciplinary R&D team to advance the nation's underwater sensing capabilities & transforming ideas from concept to reality
  • Design, model and prototype mechanical modules for underwater sensor payloads, ensuring feasibility through structural calculations, simulations and testing
  • Integrate and qualify mechanical systems through environmental tests, including vibration, pressure and thermal tests
  • Participate in field trials to validate designs under real-world operational conditions

Job Requirements

  • Masters / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong foundation in mechanical design and structural analysis
  • Proficient in Finite Element Modelling / Analysis (FEM / A) and CAD software (for example SolidWorks)
  • Hands-on experience in prototype fabrication and testing
  • Knowledge of thermal analysis is advantageous
  • Passionate about defence-related R&D and innovative problem-solving
  • Independent, resourceful and collaborative team player with strong communication and critical thinking skills
