Overview

Description The organisation is seeking a skilled Technical Specialist to take technical ownership of the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Dynamics and Copilot Studio). In this role, you'll be responsible for maturing and maintaining the technical foundations that enable safe, scalable, and efficient use of the platform. You will contribute to the technical strategy, standards, best practices, governance, and operational excellence of our Power Platform capabilities, working closely with developers and business stakeholders and maintaining our strategic partnership with Microsoft. This is a technical leadership role that requires deep technical expertise and the ability to influence and guide teams towards best practices in modern low-code application development and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders and leaders and provide advice on the technical feasibility of new initiatives
  • Contribute to the Power Platform technology roadmap and the strategic direction
  • Governance frameworks including environment strategies, data loss prevention policies, and security controls
  • Build and maintain the strategic relationship with Microsoft as our technology partner, staying current with platform updates
  • Architecture standards, design patterns, and technical best practices aligned with Microsoft\'s Well-Architected Framework
  • Application lifecycle management practices including pipelines, deployment automation, and CI / CD using Power Platform Pipelines or Azure DevOps
  • Monitor and optimise Power Platform licensing and capacity consumption, providing recommendations on resource allocation and cost management
  • Monitoring, observability, and support practices using Application Insights and Power Platform admin centre capabilities
  • Plan and coordinate platform updates, feature rollouts, and tenant-level changes with minimal disruption
  • Collaborate with Information Security and Compliance teams to ensure solutions meet organisational cybersecurity objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Technical leadership and mentoring for citizen developers and low code developers, on Power Platform capabilities and best practices
  • Ensure quality of software produced via Solution design reviews and contributing to developer peer reviews

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years\' experience in enterprise application development, with at least 3 years focused on Power Platform
  • Deep knowledge of Power Platform architecture and capabilities across all products
  • Experience with Power Platform governance including environment strategies, data loss prevention policies, security controls
  • Knowledge of Power Platform licensing models, capacity planning, and consumption monitoring
  • Experience with monitoring and observability
  • Understanding of integration patterns including custom connectors, data gateways, Azure API Management, and REST / OData APIs
  • Knowledge of security patterns including Azure Active Directory / Entra ID, role-based security, and Conditional Access
  • New Zealand citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain confidential security clearance
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience with ability to mentor teams and drive platform adoption
  • Proficiency with artificial intelligence capabilities within Power Platform (Copilot, AI Builder)
