Overview

Technical Interface Manager - Level Crossings at Auckland Transport. The purpose of this role is to provide leadership and technical subject matter expertise to the Level Crossing Programme, driving the delivery of key technical results and ensuring the operational project outcomes are achieved in alignment with Auckland Transport (AT) strategic objectives. This includes supporting leadership in the planning, consent and construction phases to ensure AT affordability, value, safety, customer experience, technical design and operational outcomes are achieved. The role operates as the lead interface between AT, Kiwirail and other external partners, advocating for AT\'s technical project requirements and infrastructure and operational outcomes, and driving key decisions on project scope and specifications to ensure engagement with internal and external technical stakeholders. This permanent role offers the opportunity to contribute to AT\'s strategic goals and make a meaningful difference in how Auckland moves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Briefing meeting with AT\'s Head of Design and Standards (and Chief Engineer where required).
  • Meeting with AT SMEs to discuss and agree on specific design issues.
  • Meeting with Level Crossing Programme design teams to provide input into the design process.
  • Organising a Project Design Approval Group (PDAG) meeting for AT to formally sign-off and approve a design package.
  • Meeting with Network Utility Operators, Kiwirail or other external stakeholders to progress design approvals and mitigate technical issues.
  • Reviewing design packages and facilitating inputs from relevant AT SMEs.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or related field.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer.
  • Experience with both private (design consultancy) and public sector (central or local government).
  • Minimum of 15 years\' experience with major civil projects.
  • Effective interpersonal skills - team player able to work with a wide mix of people.
  • Experience with transportation projects including project planning, design and delivery for complex urban corridor and / or rail projects.
