Job description
  • Major uplift in medical oncology treatment services across Aotearoa!
  • Join a leading cancer and blood service across Northland and Auckland Metro
  • Enjoy a work-life balance that suits you from the spectacular beaches and lush forests of Te Tai Tokerau Northland, to the beautiful regional parks and volcanic landscapes of Tamaki Makaurau Auckland
  • Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

Driven by the manaakitanga of all patients, whanau and communities we serve, the Northern Region Cancer & Blood Service aims to establish sustainable cancer care capacity, elevate patient and whanau voice and experience, and achieve equitable cancer outcomes.

    About the role

Were thrilled to offer Registered Nurse opportunities in medical oncology as part of our Northern Region Cancer & Blood Service - Te Puriri o Te Ora, delivering high-quality care to patients across Northland and Auckland Metro.

In the past year, the New Zealand Government has increased funding in the medicines budget by over $600 million over four years, for publicly funded provision of 33 new cancer and 33 new non-cancer medicines.

It is estimated that 92,240 patients across the country will access these medicines in the first year.

This was accompanied by new funding for Health NZ to ensure the increased capacity to deliver these medicines is in place and care can be distributed into communities and rural settings.

This is a brilliant opportunity to provide care closer to where people live.

Health NZ is undergoing an unprecedented period of development in cancer care.

To make this work, we need skilled, progressive, and passionate medical oncology nurses to step into a range of newly created roles across all career stages.

As a Registered Nurse delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) including the administration of cytotoxic medications, youll be part of a dynamic, collaborative, multidisciplinary medical oncology team, delivering patient-focused care, contributing to service development, quality improvement, and mentoring junior staff.

In playing a key role in expanding cancer and blood services, youll bring clinical expertise, a commitment to continuous learning, and a passion for equitable, evidence-based cancer care.

These are largely permanent positions, offering full-time or part-time arrangements.

Nau mai, haere mai unlock a career opportunity in cancer to make a meaningful and transformative impact for whanau living with cancer across the Northern Region.
