Roles
1x Design Analyst (Fixed-term until September 2027)
1x Insights Analyst (Permanent)
Locations
Based in Wellington (Poneke) or Christchurch (Otautahi).
Responsibilities
Produce and maintain statistical products, build internal and external relationships, provide coaching and support, and contribute to the advancement of your area of expertise.
Design innovative processes, research techniques, methods, tools, standards to support statistical or data production and services.
Provide specialist advice on area of expertise and maintain data quality standards.
Specific Roles
Design Analysts – responsible for design of processes, methods and tools to support statistical or data production and services; provide specialist advice; maintain data quality.
Roles within the Institutional Sectors team cover local government finances, economy balances, and institutional sector accounts.
Insights Analysts – design and undertake analysis across core statistical releases or data sets; identify trends, investigate causes, provide credible interpretation and assurance across products.
Prices and Deflators – responsible for measures of inflation for households and businesses (e.g., Consumers Price Index and related indexes).
What you bring
For Insights roles : strong analytical skills with experience in understanding and interpreting data and relevant degrees (economics, accounting, statistics).
For Design roles : examples of technical leadership and relevant degrees (computer science, statistics, economics).
Familiarity with R, SAS, Power BI and SQL or other statistical packages is advantageous.
Ability to work to tight deadlines, good time management, strong teamwork, resilience, and customer-centric communication.
Knowledge or interest in Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Maori, and engagement with Maori.
