Akonga at Te Kura choose subjects based on their passions and interests, accessing learning online supported by kaiako who guide, inspire, and drive engagement.
Alongside this, kaiako provide pastoral care and connect with akonga through regularhuinga ako — online or face to face — where learners connect, receive guidance, and strengthen their sense of belonging.
We're looking for a dedicated kaiako with expertise inEnglish to join our Southern region based either in our Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill or Queenstown tari (office).
In this role you will :
Support akonga to engage deeply in learning that is aligned with their goals, passions and interests.
Facilitate regularhuinga ako (online and face-to-face) to provide pastoral care, connection, and personalised learning.
Provide constructive feedback and feedforward on akonga learning.
Collaborate with colleagues and whanau to create flexible, engaging learning experiences.
You will bring :
New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate
Strong knowledge of theEnglish curriculum and assessment practices.
A calm, inclusive, and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care.
Confidence using digital tools to connect with learners.
Enthusiasm for collaborative, values driven teaching.
A genuine interest in learning and embracing te reo Maori, with a commitment to growing your skills.
