    About the Role

    In the role of a Health Analyst, you will contribute to transforming the future of health by working with the extraction, collation and distribution of data, insights, and information (using both national data sets and a data rich regional Data Warehouse) across Health New Zealand.

    You will be responsible for using best practice methodologies to provide consistent and high-quality analytics, advice, oversight, and direction in support of Hospital & Specialist Services and wider stakeholders including Parliament, the Ministry of Health and media.

    You will lead and support continued development and delivery of reporting, monitoring and analysis focused on patient care for efficient system flow across the organisation.

    You may also be involved with the production of responses to OIAs, parliamentary questions, media enquiries and other information requests in relation to your areas of responsibility.

    Through data analysis, we inform evidence-based decision-making, identify areas for improvement, enhance overall efficiency in the health system and provide accountability reporting to the public.

    About you

    With a background in data and analytics, you will have been responsible for delivering high quality, evidence-based, forward-focused insights using best practice approaches and methods.

    You will be committed to developing your analytical skills, and working within a broader team to produce, present and interpret data sets that support decision-makers.

    You will actively support other team members, sharing your knowledge to help build capability across the team.

    You will have working knowledge of New Zealand health data and understand the ever-changing nature of operational data sets.

    Ideally, you will have strong experience in data visualisation, along with significant experience with software tools & programs including SQL, Snowflake, Power BI or SSRS.

    You will have :

    • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Health Informatics), or 3–5 years' experience in intelligence analyst roles within large organisations
    • Knowledge of appropriate visualisation tools and data techniques to elicit high quality insights, create and validate dashboards (e.g. requirements gathering, data cleansing, development of insights and process mapping)
    • Advanced analytical capabilities
    • Significant experience with business intelligence tools
    • Preferred experience also includes :

    • Knowledge of New Zealand hospital datasets
    • Knowledge of SQL and PowerBI
    • Working at Health New Zealand
