  • An exciting opportunity to make a difference in the Region, supporting the reintegration of those with harmful sexual behaviour, and High Risk / complex needs people in our care into the community.

  • The role of Senior Adviser Community Engagement and Reintegration has a focus on proactive engagement with communities and the provision of specialist advice, ongoing education, operational support and monitoring of the location of child sex offenders and other high-risk offenders in the community.

You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with accommodation providers and agencies, to ensure appropriate accommodation and support options are available across communities.This role is at the forefront of creating positive partnerships, it is integral to the interface between Ara Poutama Aeoteroa (The Department of Corrections) and a vast array of organisations and community groups across New Zealand, as well as internal stakeholders such as Custody, Pae Ora and High-Risk Team.The role is based in the Bay of Plenty (Te Moana a Toi); therefore, you will be expected to travel throughout the region.

  • Relationship management is a large component of the role; therefore, you will be apt at proactively developing strong and credible connections with diverse groups, encompassing NGOs, Government agencies, Iwi, school communities, City Councils, community leaders, and others with vested interest.Your success will be measured by your ability to take this pivotal role and leverage off strong partnerships to facilitate positive outcomes for Corrections and its stakeholders.
  • To this end you will be comfortable facilitating and presenting across a variety of forums and be resilient in nature to manage the sensitivities of the topic.Ideally you will present with a good understanding of risk management and knowledge in relation to high-risk offenders, along with relevant legislation.

    However, this is not essential as transferrable skills are incredibly important combined with an affiliation for the positive essential work Corrections undertakes.

  • The midpoint of the salary range is $119.013 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $101.162 - $142.816 per annum.
