    Mō te tūranga | About the roleThis role plays a key part in assisting a range of essential operational services, including :

    Waste collection, including recycling and food waste

    Processing and preparation of solid waste for transport

    • Ensuring the Material Resource Facility (MRF) is kept to a high standard
    • Complete waste management related purchasing and invoicing
    • Learn village water and wastewater systems
    • Undertake duty officer responsibilities for Local Body operations
    • Supporting the maintenance of infrastructure, plant, roads, and footpath networks
    • Participating in the road snow clearing programme as required
    • Equipment maintenance & preventative maintenance checks
    • Participating in rural fire training, response and other emergency responses to meet the department's obligations

    • Full New Zealand drivers' licence - Class 2 (essential)
    • Experience in heavy vehicle operations including Forklift, Wheels, Tracks, Roller endorsements
    • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work across all trades
    • Knowledge and commitment to health and safety
    • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy whilst able to work as part of a team
    • You must have good computer literacy skills, written and oral communication skills
    • Proven experience dealing with customers in a professional manner
    • Willingness to work on rostered weekends
    • Desirable :

    • Experience in maintaining small plant, equipment, and / or roads
    • Familiar with water reticulation and pumping systems
    • Rural fire experience and / or willingness to join
    • Interest and / or experience in emergency services
    • Current First Aid certificate
    • Mō te tīma | About the teamAs a Local Body team member working in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, you will be part of a small team who maintain infrastructure and provide services to the remote alpine village.
