Wildlands is seeking full-time permanent Ecological Restoration Team Leaders who will be based out of our Christchurch office.
The role is to lead small teams in the field undertaking ecological restoration works, comprising pest plant control, pest animal control, and planting.
You will mentor and train staff, lead by example, undertake basic reporting and record keeping, ensure the health and safety of your team, and maintain a positive team culture.
Opportunities exist for liaising with client representatives, other stakeholders, and the general public.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage field teams in ecological restoration projects.
Mentor and train staff in pest control, planting, and safety practices.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
At least two years' restoration experience.
Professional work ethic, excellent planning and problem-solving skills.
Ability to use agrichemicals, vertebrate toxins, traps, and necessary licenses (e.g., Controlled Substance Licence).
Back-country experience and knowledge of pest plant and animal control, and indigenous planting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
Independence and teamwork orientation.
Good work ethic, health & safety conscious.
Handheld GPS and mobile phone app skills (TrapNZ, ArcGIS Field Maps).
Basic Excel and report writing ability.
Level of fitness suitable for outdoor work (tramping, hunting).
Full NZ driver's licence (manual) and ability to tow a trailer.
Current qualifications : Growsafe, First Aid, Chainsaw, 4WD, CSL, ATV, SiteSafe passport.
Required Training
Training will be provided for specialist areas as required.
