About the Role
The Senior Service Designer role is at the heart of how we bring together the parts of the puzzle to design excellent services for our workforce and our communities. This is a high-profile opportunity due to the responsibilities of this role in supporting nationally significant and strategic products and services, and in supporting and influencing key stakeholders within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and the wider health system.
About the Team / Service / Location
You will sit with the Digital Group within Digital Health Strategy and Design, with a focus on providing strong service design practices and principles. The Design Group emphasises the importance of combining strategic planning and architecture with innovative design thinking to create effective and impactful digital health solutions. By incorporating design thinking into the strategic frameworks, digital strategies and architecture are aligned with user-centred design principles, ultimately leading to improved healthcare outcomes and workforce experienceOur Digital Design Team champions the needs of our health workforce and consumers, utilising human-centred design to recommend solutions that deliver an equitable and efficient health service.
About you
As a Senior Service Designer, you will use a human-centred co-design approach to design services. You will work closely with Enterprise and Solution Architects, and Clinical Informatics Designers, to deliver a holistic design service. Through collaboration you'll weave together the layers which make up our health services, including people, processes and enabling technologies, building a cohesive picture of how a service works from start to finish. Your work will create better experiences and outcomes for our workforce, whānau and communities, whilst also delivering operational efficiency and business sustainability.We need flexible, resourceful people with a strong equity focus operating in a fast-paced and complex environment and will need to be pragmatic and able to advocate for the value of a human-centred approach.
Skills and experience
A minimum of 7 years' experience
in Service Design or related roles, within large organisations across the public and private sector. Working knowledge of the health sector and government (previous experience desirable).
Service Design
– You demonstrate an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of Service Design as a discipline and how it is used to create business and customer value.
Pae Ora and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
– can evidence an understanding of Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022, the significance, and obligations of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to give effect to these expectations in a meaningful way, and the commitments to equity and priorities of Wai2575. Have an appreciation of cross-cultural matters, including knowledge of tikanga Māori (or a willingness to learn).
Communication & relationship effectiveness
– Demostrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present in a clear, persuasive, and impactful way, to influence others to embrace change, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes.
Dealing with ambiguity
– You're able to adapt to change, shift focus with ease, make decisions without having all the information, remain composed in uncertain situations, and confidently manage risk.
