We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate guidance counsellor to join our vibrant school community.

Stratford High School is a coeducational secondary school with approximately 650 students from Y9–13.

We are located in the heart of the Taranaki region, nestled beneath our beautiful Maunga and only a short drive from the beach.

Our school is future-focused with a dynamic and engaging curriculum.This is a permanent position, with either full-time or part-time hours negotiable depending on the successful applicant.

The role will commence at the beginning of 2026.The successful applicant will be NZAC registered or working towards registration.Our guidance counsellors are key members of the wider pastoral team and play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and educational wellbeing of our students.

You will work closely and collaboratively with staff, students, and whanau to provide high-quality guidance and support.ResponsibilitiesProviding individual and group counselling to studentsDeveloping and implementing strategies that promote student wellbeing and resilienceLiaising with external agencies and support servicesContributing to the development and implementation of schoolwide wellbeing initiativesQualificationsExperience working with adolescents, ideally in a school settingThe ability to work effectively in both bicultural and multicultural contextsStrong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skillsA proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and whanauIf you\'re passionate about supporting young people and want to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, we'd love to hear from you.
