Ranger Biodiversity (Fixed Term / Secondment)

Spend your days in the stunning landscapes of Banks Peninsula, enhancing the environment and protecting threatened species.

Salary range : $65,070 to $75,981.

Full-time, 12-month fixed-term or secondment - starting 20 November, based from Duvauchelle.

About the role | Mō te tūranga

You will be focused on the biodiversity mahi of the district, leading projects and ensuring the work is done to a high standard. You will be working closely with the rest of the Mahaanui team, Iwi and local body Councils as well as other organisations, agencies and the community on Banks Peninsula. Your days will be varied with a mix of field and office-based work depending on our programmes of work. The position will be focussed on :

• trapping, fencing, weed control and working on restoration projects
• working with species (including threatened plants) and providing wildlife callers with advice
• contract management and helping co-ordinate contractors and staff to deliver on timebound work programs
• collating data, data analysis and reporting
• collaborating with colleagues, community, iwi and local partners to establish relationships and to share information and knowledge
• providing support to wider regional operations team as required
• assisting with Marine Reserve monitoring patrols.

The role may include other duties as required to support the district’s biodiversity work.

The salary range for this position is $65,070 to $75,981 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
