Community Law Canterbury, TeRūnangaO Ngā Maata WakaInc. and New Zealand Police are partners in operating Te Pae Oranga Iwi Justice Panels. The panels take low level offending out of the courts and deal with both offenders and victims in a restorative justice manner. The panels are a highly successful alternative to court processes.

We are looking for a part-time co-ordinator / facilitator for a fixed term contract. The appointee to this role will join a dynamic team of restorative justice co-ordinators. Working together with a similar team from TeRūnangaO Ngā Maata WakaInc, you will work with participants referred by the police and their whānau to make a plan to put things right. You will be looking at the reasons why a person has offended and what is going on in their lives. That way the panel can connect them with the right kind of services and support. If there is a victim you will be encouraging them to take part too. Add to that, you will be working with community leaders on the panels. These are made up of community leaders who have valuable knowledge and experience.
