Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to join our Enabling Services team.

This is a fixed term position until 1 May 2026 to cover a secondment.

In this role, you will scope, manage, and deliver IT projects that streamline and support business processes. You will work closely with key stakeholders across The Treasury and other central agencies, including the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Public Service Commission.

As a Project Manager at The Treasury, you will be responsible for scoping, planning, and delivering IT projects that support and streamline business processes. This includes developing and maintaining project management plans, schedules, and budgets, while ensuring deliverables are completed within agreed tolerances. You will lead project teams, manage risks and issues, and oversee stakeholder engagement to ensure requirements are captured and communications are clear. Additionally, you will manage change control procedures, facilitate the handover of project deliverables to IT operations, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed. Post‑implementation, you will conduct reviews to capture lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery practices.

  • Proven experience in managing IT projects, including scoping, planning, and delivery.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
  • A collaborative, team‑oriented approach, with experience in motivating and managing project teams.
  • The ability to meet the criteria required to hold a New Zealand Government security clearance.
