Overview
Southern Institute of Technology is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified person to teach Civil Engineering on the Bachelor of Engineering Technology and NZ Diploma of Engineering programme at our Invercargill Campus.
This is an exciting prospect for the right person to join our teaching team.
Responsibilities
Teaching - responsibility is taken for the management of teaching and learning.
Student related Responsibility - Maintenance of positive relations with students, and provision of appropriate support.
Administration - Completion of administrative requirements for programme operation.
Personal and Professional development - Retaining vocational currency, developing tutorial skills and for degree tutors, contributing to achievement of research outputs.
Programme Development and Review - Contribution to the evaluation and further development of programmes.
About You
You are a passionate civil engineering professional with a strong academic background and / or industry experience, ready to inspire and guide students in achieving their learning goals.
Ideally, you will have :
Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil Major) qualification, or
Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) (Civil Major), or
PhD in Civil Engineering or working towards one
While previous teaching experience would be a distinct advantage, training is available in this area, with academic staff being required to undertake study towards the New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) offered through SIT.
Background in research and outputs with at least ten years' relevant industry experience and / or academic experience in civil engineering design and / or consulting.
