Mechanical Engineering - Academic Staff Member

The appointing salary for this role will be between $77,500 and $96,800, dependent on skills and experience.

The Academic Staff Member - Mechanical Engineering - is based in our Rotokauri Campus, reporting to the Team Manager and will be responsible for :

  • Collaborate with faculty to align tutoring sessions with course objectives.
  • Develop supplementary materials such as practice problems and study guides.
  • Review and reinforce lecture materials to enhance student comprehension.

Student Engagement

  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Identify and address individual student learning needs and challenges.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their academic performance.
  • Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
  • Participate in meetings with faculty and academic support teams.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and changes in mechanical engineering education.
  • To be successful in this role you will have

  • A relevant trade qualification or higher in General Mechanical Engineering, with expertise in areas such as fabrication, machining, fitting, and welding.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students are supported in their educational journey.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner.
  • Organisational skills to manage tutoring sessions and track student progress.
  • Patience and adaptability to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to promoting academic excellence and student success.
  • Preferred

  • Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring.
  • Familiarity with engineering software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB).
  • Working Conditions

  • Flexible scheduling, including evening or weekend availability if required.
  • Hybrid or in-person work environment based on institutional needs.
