The National Strategic Projects Lead provides leadership and supports service development activity for individual projects. This role works with other team members to scope, plan and provide support through the programme lifecycle. This includes supporting Director to coordinate, monitor and complete developmental work required to improve services.

This is a full‑time role working Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm based anywhere in Aotearoa.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Lead programme and project management across our services, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and quality assurance standards.
  • Establish and maintain governance structures, programme plans, and reporting frameworks to support successful delivery.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies across multiple projects, including change control processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, government agencies, NGOs and other key stakeholders.
  • Champion Te Tiriti o Waitangi and embed te ao Māori into programme delivery, ensuring culturally responsive practices.
  • Drive business development and strategic growth, identifying new opportunities and contributing to service innovation.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop new service models and enhance outcomes in the health and disability sector.
  • Support emergency management and business continuity, participating in planning, training and testing activities.
  • Proven experience managing complex programmes using structured methodologies like Agile or Waterfall.
  • Ability to apply sound judgement, think ahead and provide strategic advice grounded in evidence and insight.
  • Executive‑Level Reporting – Skilled in preparing clear, strategic reports and business cases that inform and influence senior leadership decision‑making.
  • Skilled in coordinating resources and timelines across multiple workstreams to deliver outcomes efficiently.
  • Communicates effectively, values diversity and fosters a high‑performing, inclusive culture.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate challenging conversations and build constructive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Senior public sector experience – Proven ability to collaborate with sector experts to develop innovative service models and secure new business opportunities within complex health and disability systems.
