- At Chatham Islands we provide health care to the community and the visitingtourists who fly over to indulge in the outdoors, conservation protected areas,new and preserved cultural and heritage landmarks.TheChatham's hospital is a dynamic and distinctive workplace, where each daypresents new challenges and opportunities. A Healthcare Assistant is an integral part of our team and we are looking for acandidate who have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and theability to use their initiative. You will enjoy being busy and don't mind thatthe role can be at times be physically demanding. You will work with a diversemulti-disciplinary team.Therole of a Healthcare Assistant varies from day to day but you will bethere to make sure that the centre is running smoothly and to its highestpotential. This could mean performing a variety of tasks such as :
- Supporting people to stay well in their homes, assisting with cleaning and personal cares such as showering,
- Ensuring that patients at the health centre and in the community have the best experience possible.
- Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within the health centre premises; including maintaining the hospital grounds and disposal of rubbish.
- Assisting in the transportation of patients and staff to and from the airport.
- Picking up and managing freight as required.
- Assisting with meal preparation for patients and staff
- Assisting the nursing team to ensure the smooth running of the health centre.Youmust be flexible to work all shifts, including weekends and nights. Seeking applications from on-Island residents from across the Chatham Islands
- Skills and Experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills,
- A high attention to detail and the ability to relate to patients and their families,
- A good use of initiative and problem-solving skills,
- Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements as needed.
