This is a part‑time ( 20 hours per week ) permanent role with the Waimakariri District Council (WDC) as a Youth Development Facilitator.
Overview
We seek a self‑motivated individual with experience working with young people to facilitate community‑led activities that promote a healthier, happier, safer Waimakariri District for our youth. The role supports the WDC Youth Strategy and Community Development Strategy and aligns with our International Safe Community status.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate community‑led activities and groups with young people.
- Plan, organise and run meetings.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across business, social, and community sectors.
- Develop, implement and evaluate projects.
- Use social and online media to support community engagement.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of tasks to meet timely outcomes.
- Build rapport with culturally, socio‑economic and values‑diverse demographics.
Qualifications
Significant experience working effectively with young people.Experience with a community‑led model and networking.Proven ability to facilitate groups and organise meetings.Project planning, evaluation, and community engagement skills.Experience working across multiple sectors (business, social, community).Familiarity with social media and online communication.Strong communication, motivation, and innovative thinking.Well organised with capacity to manage a breadth of work.Experience active involvement in a range of community interests is advantageous.Benefits & Conditions
