Civil Engineer - Storm Water Specialist

Fluid Recruitment is partnering with a well-regarded land development specialist to grow their Auckland-based engineering team.

With a strong pipeline of work into 2026, the multi-disciplinary consultancy has multiple offices across Auckland and the country and is seeking a stormwater specialist to work from any of their three Auckland offices.

Offering above-market salaries and personalised progression programmes, the firm aims to grow its capabilities in the stormwater sector and has opportunities in Christchurch.

They are looking for someone to take a pivotal role in leading stormwater-related works.

You will have

A bachelor's degree in engineering; a postgraduate degree would be preferred but is not essential

A sound knowledge of general engineering principles related to stormwater

A minimum of 3 years' stormwater engineering or closely related experience

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders

Extensive use of stormwater modelling software from a New Zealand perspective

Enjoy building relationships with clients and within a diverse work environment

The role

You will join the team as a crucial member to provide expertise in stormwater works and related projects.

Responsibilities include completing flooding risk assessments, quality treatment train design, stormwater management plans, and stormwater mitigation design.

You will provide sound technical advice and work closely with clients on a daily basis, with the opportunity to build on your specialty while not being limited to purely stormwater design.

Key responsibilities

Complete flooding risk assessments and quality treatment drain design

Design stormwater management plans and stormwater mitigation plans

Assess stormwater system developments for all sites, including redevelopment of existing sites, and liaise with clients

Create and maintain honest, genuine relationships with clients and stakeholders
