Overview
Software Engineer role at Fonterra in Te Mātāpuna Fonterra’s Commodity Risk & Trading (CR&T) team. You’ll be building systems that power a multi-billion-dollar trading business where physical supply chains meet financial markets.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop tools that enable asset-backed trading, portfolio shaping, origination, and real-time execution.
- Build systems such as algorithmic trading platforms, risk pricing engines, and related analytics that influence trading decisions, risk management, and P&L outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with traders, quants, and risk managers to solve real business problems beyond delivering tickets.
- Focus on correctness, performance, and reliability, with code that has a direct line to business impact.
- Contribute to a team that values curiosity, craft, and continual improvement, and participate in shaping better ways to solve problems.
About You / Qualifications
A strong foundation in modern full-stack development (Python, Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL).Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (Azure, Docker / Kubernetes, Terraform) and CI / CD pipelines.A track record of building robust, production-grade systems, ideally in finance, trading, or other complex domains.A curious mindset and a desire to understand the underlying business logic.Ability to work autonomously, challenge assumptions, and shape solutions from first principles.Collaborative spirit with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.A passion for building new things and delivering meaningful systems, not just maintenance.Our Values & Commitment
