Health and physical education

We seek a dedicated, forward-thinking HPE teacher (ideally with sport-integrated or performance-based HPE experience) to lead our senior HPE programme (NCEA Levels 2 and 3) and support our academy sport pathways. You will plan and deliver HPE curriculum emphasising hauora, wellbeing, physical literacy, sport performance, leadership and life-skills. Wherever possible learning will be delivered through a sport lens to reflect our integrated model. You will work closely with sport coaches, performance staff and academic teachers to deliver coordinated learning that supports academic and athletic development. You will mentor rangatahi navigating the demands of sport and study, supporting their physical and mental wellbeing, time‑management and transitions into tertiary, trades or sport careers.

We are looking for

• A fully registered teacher with a current NZ Teaching Council practising certificate.
• Experience teaching HPE at secondary level, preferably senior years (NCEA).
• Experience or willingness to develop sport-integrated HPE, athlete development, wellbeing education and supporting high-performance youth.
• Commitment to holistic wellbeing, hauora and supporting rangatahi in all aspects of their development.
• An innovative, adaptable and flexible teacher comfortable working in a school environment that is still being shaped.
• A collaborative, team‑player mindset and belief in our academy’s model combining sport, culture, wellbeing and academics.

Here you will shape what senior HPE means in a context that truly integrates sport performance, wellbeing, academic support, identity and life readiness. You will work with rangatahi whose lives go beyond the classroom. You will have a real role in supporting their academic, athletic and personal success. This is more than a standard teaching role.
